(*vocals: Daniel Drainer / *vocals & rhythm acoustic guitar: Jennifer Haycraft / *picked acoustic guitar & drums: Jason Eberts / **electric guitars & fretless bass: John Eberts)
Light of Hope was written in front of two big dogs. Ha ha! I was dog-sitting for my sister and her husband and for some reason, I was feeling incredibly down and depressed. The dogs picked up on that and sat there as I prayed and played my guitar. I just began to sing verses from the Psalms and Isaiah that I had memorized and Light of Hope was born. It was incredibly encouraging to me - like a burden had been lifted. I'm undone when I hear of how this song has ministered to so many people along the way. I'm convinced that if we submit to God and trust Him through the hard times, He will use that experience to reach others in their hard times. "I'll trade my darkness for the dawn of a new day / for the hope of a new day / for the light of a new day..." No One Like You: Hi-Fi - Lo-Fi - Chords/Lyrics - Behind the Music
(**vocals & acoustic guitar: Jennifer Haycraft / **electric guitars & second solo: John Eberts / **bass & first electric guitar solo: Bennie Andrus / *drums: Jason Eberts / **background vocals: Melissa B. Eberts)
No One Like You was written in the late 90's. It's a prayer and it celebrates God's faithfulness. It is inspired by several passages in the Bible - "If God is for us, who can be against us", "All of God's promises are Yes and Amen", the story of Peter stepping out on the stormy waters upon the "ground" of Jesus's Word, "If we confess our sin He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin", "I am the Lord and besides Me there is no Savior", and the story of the prodigal son - running to his father who was running to him. "There is no one like You Lord . . . all Your Faithfulness to me!" Someone Like That: Hi-Fi - Lo-Fi - Chords/Lyrics - Behind the Music
(*vocals: Jennifer Haycraft / **guitars & rhythm pad: Jason Eberts / **keys: Melissa A. Eberts)
Someone is Psalm 139 put to music. I was studying that Psalm and wrote it on a little piece of paper and put it in my pocket. When I would walk around at work, I would get the paper and meditate on it - how God knew my life before I was born, how I can trust Him, how good He is. A few days later on the way home from work I began to sing the first verse of the song that would become Someone. I envisioned taking the "Nestea Plunge" into God's arms, falling completely into the Someone that Psalm 139 describes. "I can rest in Your hand / I can trust in Your plan / I can fall into Someone Like That." Acquire the Fire: Hi-Fi - Lo-Fi - Chords/Lyrics - Behind the Music
(*vocals: Jennifer Church / **electric guitars: John Eberts / *bass: John Krumm / *acoustic guitar & keys: Jennifer Haycraft /*drums: Jason Eberts)
This song was inspired by an ATF promo that I saw in 1997-ish or so. The first verse and half of the chorus was the only thing I had for quite a while but we sang it at a youth service called The Rock pretty frequently. During a business trip in 2002, I was snowed into my hotel room and had some time for "personal reflection". Feeling a bit "lacking" in many areas at the time, I wrote the rest of the verses. The verses are a combination of giving myself a "good talkin' to" and a prayer. The hope in Acquire is that we can get up, no matter where we are at the time, and run to God. He's faithful to infuse us with His Fire if we turn to Him. "I could see the edge, but I couldn't break the fall / I could see it coming, I could hear the warning call / I cried to You from a dry and dusty land / You came to rescue me and You gave me a second chance..." Longing: Hi-Fi - Lo-Fi - Chords/Lyrics - Behind the Music
(**vocals: Ryan Rothe / *acoustic guitar: Jennifer Haycraft / **bass: Bennie Andrus / *synth keys: Erin Krumm / *piano solo: Kelly Jeannotte / *fiddle: Will from Collinsville / *drums: Jason Eberts)
Longing is a song that has gone through many changes. The final version is only vaguely close to the original version that was called I Long For You. The song was basically rewritten during a vacation I took to a cabin in rural Missouri. In the studio the song also went through many revisions - and we're pleased with the final outcome. It has a well-rounded sound to it and is quite a comforting song. "Jesus You're the lover of my soul / how I long to feel Your love..." CommunionSong: Hi-Fi - Lo-Fi - Chords/Lyrics - Behind the Music
(**vocals & guitar: Jennifer Haycraft)
Communion Song was written in about 3 minutes as I was driving to church one day. I had been asked to sing a song during communion at a women's retreat. I began to meditate on the sacrifice of Jesus and the meaning of communion. I then began to sing, and the whole song came out. I rushed to find some paper and a guitar! Those kinds of songs - the ones you just sing out - those are the ones that are truly inspired. "You have shown us a God of Love..." One and Only: Hi-Fi - Lo-Fi - Chords/Lyrics - Behind the Music
(*vocals: Shane Malley / **electric guitars: John Eberts / **bass guitar & electric guitar solo: Bennie Andrus / *bass guitar solo: John Krumm / *acoustic guitar: Jennifer Haycraft / *drums: Jason Eberts)
One and Only is one of my favorite songs. Originally, it was a slow song. But when I shared it with the worship band at The Rock, the musicians had other designs for it and it's never been the same! Shane Malley and Jen Church sang it at The Rock. Jen added the bridge part which instantly became an enduring part of the song. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to have Shane record the song for Faithful! "You're the Only One for me, Jesus!" One Thing: Hi-Fi - Lo-Fi - Chords/Lyrics - Behind the Music
(*vocals: Ryan Rothe / *picked acoustic guitar & percussion: Jason Eberts / *rhythm acoustic guitar: Jennifer Haycraft)
One Thing was written in 2000. It comes from Psalm 27: 4-8. I had been listening to a teaching from Joyce Meyer on "Requiring God as Vital" and she referred to those verses a lot. I was just struck with the reality of being able to have a "One Thing" in life. King David said it was to dwell in God's presence all the days of his life. I think that's a pretty good "One Thing" to strive for! There are at least 5 verses to the song - three are on the recording. Each verse was written after a different experience - kind of a scrap book. One verse that isn't on the recording was written after I went to a Worship Together Conference in Nashville. Although I had been "saturated", I wanted more and more. This verse probably sums up One Thing better than the others: "I've been to Your sanctuary / I've been to a deeper part / still it only makes me hungry for more / for more of your presence / One Thing..." Two Worlds Collide: Hi-Fi - Lo-Fi - Chords/Lyrics - Behind the Music
(*vocals: Jennifer Church / *picked acoustic guitar & percussion: Jason Eberts / *rhythm acoustic guitar: Jennifer Haycraft / **bass: John Eberts)
Two Worlds was one of the very first "real" songs I wrote. That was in 1996. I had just gotten a guitar and knew about 5 chords. Earlier that evening I had been looking at the nighttime sky (one of my favorite things to do) and I remembered that the God who made all that is in me. That can be a pretty overwhelming thought when you're staring at the stars and planets. I remember whispering, "Nothing's impossible, God's in me!" I went home and played the 5 chords I knew and that became "Two Worlds". "There's something 'bout the stars that draw me to You / a common thread that runs through earth and eternity..." Son of Righteousness: Hi-Fi - Lo-Fi - Chords/Lyrics - Behind the Music
(*vocals: Jennifer Haycraft / *acoustic guitar & percussion: Jason Eberts / *flute: a nice guy from Collinsville)
Son of Righteousness was written during the second Worship Together Conference I went to in Nashville. You may think I'm nuts, but I actually woke up in my hotel room singing this song. Ha ha! I got ready for the conference and kept singing and making up new verses and decided I'd better write it down! I love hymns and this song reminds me of a hymn. The rhythm, the consistency of the lyrics, and especially the focus of the message - Righteous Jesus, Son of God, Son of Man, Lamb of God, Prince of Peace, Risen King. "The Lamb of God who died for me / I trust in Him, my Prince of Peace.."
